Tasks of a mechatronic housing

The circuit board housing is determined by the electronics designer.

It includes the circuit board(s), connection areas, cable outlets and, if necessary, heat sinks. Areas for display and operation as well as attachment options for customer applications are also necessary.

The job of the housing is to secure the circuit board and protect it from water, dirt, ESD discharges and EMC influences. A housing adequately cools the electronics and prevents them from being destroyed or disrupted by a mechanical shock or vibration. Furthermore, a housing has the task of ensuring that no living being can touch the circuit board in electrically conductive areas and is therefore not damaged by electric shocks.

Functions of a mechatronic housing

A PCB enclosure must fulfill many different functions to ensure the greatest possible security. The display, operating and protection functions for the circuit board are integrated in one housing. It can be made of plastic or metals such as steel or aluminum.

The housing of a circuit board can be produced using various manufacturing processes. These include additive manufacturing, plastic injection molding and various sheet metal bending and punching processes. Aluminum processes such as extrusion, sand casting, investment casting, chill casting and die casting are also among the options for producing mechatronic housings.

I give you the knowledge that you can develop your PCB housing safely, professionally and competently. Just contact me and let me know how I can help you.

I would be happy to advise you personally and make you an individual offer that exactly suits your needs.
