Steffen Braun electronics designer

Dear reader,

Are you like me?

Do you design electromechanical or mechatronic devices?

Do you work in mechatronic product development, for example in medical technology, sensor technology, smart home equipment, automation or electromobility or the automotive industry?

You don't know where you can find additional specialist knowledge for your daily work?

Can't google anything because you don't know the official name of your job? When you search for “constructor” do you find too many inappropriate hits?

> Get in touch with me and I will inform you about where you can find specialist knowledge.

Do you find individual pieces of knowledge in standards or some books? But you are missing THE book, THE website or THE seminar in which exactly the specialist knowledge can be found?

Do you also find electrical engineering too complicated and too theoretical for everyday use in construction?

👉

You benefit from:

Knowledge from classic mechanical engineering: adapted to electronic construction Knowledge from electrical engineering: simply explained, with practical relevance, only what is really necessary - no complicated electrical calculations, circuit diagrams, simulations

I would like to share my knowledge with you: from over 20 years of practice, standards and books

You learn simply and understandably because I know how little time you have for intensive research in your everyday working life.

But which job title makes sense?

In its classification of occupations, the employment agency mentions the profession of electronics designer (as a search term for “electrical engineering designer”)

> Write me your opinion on this professional term!

I look forward to every answer!

Skeptical? You may be wondering:

>> I studied mechanical engineering. That's enough to be able to screw on circuit boards.

The electronics designer needs around 70% mechanical engineering and 30% electronics knowledge.

Mechanical engineering provides knowledge about materials, production, processing and assembly technologies.

However, with the knowledge of mechanical engineering, the knowledge of electronics is missing.

Questions like these...remain open and unanswered:

"What destroys a circuit board?"

"What influences does a circuit board need to be protected from?", "Electronics can also be dangerous - what damage can happen and how?"

"What do I have to consider when designing the housing?"

As an electronics designer, you need exactly these special electrical and mechanical details for optimal housing designs.

>> Wasn't mechatronics created to enable the knowledge for mechatronics product development?<<

Mechatronics training to become a technician or Bachelor/Master courses bring advantages for the profession of electronics designer. There is knowledge about the circuit board and its development process.

In my opinion - as in mechanical engineering - there is a lack of specific knowledge about housing concepts optimized for:

the protection of the electronics, the protection of the customer, the assembly of electronics, the simplest connection technology, optimal operation by the customer, and much more...

Depending on the location and requirements for the end product, the following are required:

professional fastening of the circuit board, heat dissipation strategies, concepts for sealing, operation and displays.

Competent advice & further training opportunities

The mechanical product development of mechatronic products is more current than ever:

Electronification is the future opportunity in many industries: Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, electromobility: terms that you also know!

In more than 20 years I have been able to gain experience in electromechanics, mechatronics, frequency converters, cooling, sensors, connection technology, plugs, cables and inductive charging technology.

This should help everyone in the mechanical design of and with electronics.
