Connection technology


A circuit board must be connected in order to be supplied with sufficient energy. If signals are processed by the electronics or communication takes place via a bus interface, connection technology is also required.

Starting from the circuit board, the connection can be made to another circuit board or to the housing wall.

 

The electronics designer must provide space in the mechatronic housing for the connection components: stranded wire, cable, plug or socket. For EMC-compliant wiring, additional shield contacts are necessary.

Nowadays the requirements for printed circuit boards continue to increase. The electronification phase means that many devices are equipped with electronics that previously functioned purely mechanically. Further challenges to the expertise of electronics designers are posed by advancing miniaturization. The customer requires ever smaller devices, which poses major challenges, especially when it comes to cooling and connection technology.
